Electroboyz feat. Hyorin - "Ma Boy 2"

As a Kpop producer, Brave Brothers (AKA Kang Dong Cheol/용감한 형제) is relentless, making hit after hit. While he used to work primarily for Korean R&B and Hip-Hop giant YG Entertainment, he broke away to start his own label, Brave Sound. This week saw the release of “Ma Boy 2″ by one of Brave Sounds’ primary groups featuring Sistar’s Hyorin who earlier this year released the original “Ma Boy” with Sistar sub-group Sistar19 (also a Brave Sound production).

“Answer songs” as they’re known have been quite popular in western R&B for  the past decade or so. Usually it’s another artist, often of the opposite gender, replying to the original song. Typically the music will be the same or slightly remixed and/or the chorus will often have a change in gender for the lyrics (i.e. “Girl” changed to “Boy” etc.) I think this is the first such song I’ve heard from Kpop, although I’m sure they’ve done it before.
