Dubstep gets mainstream exposure in Korea via 4Minute's Hyuna in "Bubble Pop!"

Posted 6th July 2011 by Alex Trup

As a Londoner, I’m pleased about the international inroads our homegrown genre of Dubstep [Wikipedia] (a slow, bass-heavy genre of urban dance music) has made. I’ve heard it mentioned on so much American media, and now its even surfacing in Asia in the “Bubble Pop!” music video by 4Minute’s [Wikipedia] Hyuna [Wikipedia]. Although the track itself is actually pop (although kind of kooky an quite different for Korean music), there is a Dubstep dance break starting at the 2 minute 19 second mark [direct link to that part of the video]. While it’s not as significant as if the whole song were a Dubstep track, this is certainly going get the genre mainstream exposure throughout the KPop listening world.
