Online music marketing in Asia with MC Jin

A couple of years ago, I had the privilege of interviewing MC Jin [Wikipedia | Official website], who is arguably one of the best known Asian rappers. Over the years he has grown his fan base and reinvented himself a few times, after going independent, moving to Hong Kong (and starting to rap in Cantonese), to his relatively recent focus on Christian hip-hop. The conversation we had focused a lot on the language issues international or regional artists may face, both in terms of their music and marketing it. The issues raised in the conversation are just as relevant today as they were then. I recorded this phone interview as part of a mini-series of podcasts I produced for the Dot Asia Organisation, which runs the .Asia domain space – Clearly I was convinced enough to get Evocative.Asia!
